Ethics and Values
Throughout my entire life, I have always been taught to do the right thing. I think having good ethics and values is essential in shaping my life, and the lives of others. A few times in my life, I have been in unethical situations, and I always feel wrong and ashamed when I do those types of things.
Having good ethics and values will always help in finding jobs, keeping friends, and advancing my life. It’s important to me to do the right things, and I think if everyone else had the same mentality, our business world would have a lot less failure and feuds.
Even though I said in the previous page that I would give visual examples of my skills, I don’t have any for this skill. I might not have visual examples, but I can explain a couple examples.
First, there was a group project in school I was a part of. Some of the people in my group wanted to use a friend’s paper and copy the information from it. I was opposed to this because it wasn’t right. I know some professors keep work from other students so work cannot be copied, and I didn't want to get in trouble. I talked everyone into doing the paper correctly, and in the end, we received a B+ on the paper. I felt good about the grade, and even better about not going along with the crowd.
A second example of this skill took place in my personal life. My boss asked if I would work on a Saturday, but I really didn’t want to. I didn’t have anything to do that day, I just didn’t want to work. I thought about it, and I decided to work anyway. After work I felt god about myself, and I received a big compliment from my boss. This type of situation has come up at other points in my life with the same results. I fell like if you give effort and show someone your willing to give up something for them, they will return the favor, and show you appreciation.
